The only rape that matters…
I have to applaud all the attention rape is getting recently, as it has been getting a lot, and awareness has certainly been raised by the #slutwalk events and other blog posts such as ‘you can’t joke about rape’. But at the same time I’m going to have to take an issue with all of you anti-rape crusaders and feminists for neglecting the other rape that happens every day, you know, the kind you don’t ever mention?
In all this crusading against rape you seem to only have one definition for rape: male on female. I am not trying to be disparaging towards your efforts to stop rape, but let’s admit that male on female rape is the only form you really seem to care (or be talking) about. I read a lot, and I’ve seen the statistics, that 1 out of 4 women has been raped, and that’s absolutely too high! But as far as I’m concerned you are all hypocrites if you are an anti-rape charity, or engaging in anti-rape activities/education/fundraising and you don’t have a working prison outreach program.
Now just you wait a minute, shut up and look deep inside yourself, and admit it. You are saying “but they’re prisoners, if they broke the law, they deserve the ‘pounding in the ass’ part of “Federal Pound-You-In-The-Ass-Prison.” But substitute ‘woman’ for ‘prisoner.’ “Prisoners/Women deserve it. They stole, or they hurt people, or they deserve to be raped.” Because they’re not real people, just like women aren’t real people. NO ONE deserves to be raped, yet rape happens in prison every day. But male-on-male or female-on-female rape sadly isn’t brutal enough for you to try to stop.
We are warehousing ‘lawbreakers’ of both sexes, for the more or less harmless drug crimes like marijuana possession or distribution, and these young men and women go to jail, and they are oftentimes forced into non-consensual sex. For favors, for safety, to survive, yet this tragedy seems to be ignored by all of you.
I’ve never heard of ANY prison-outreach or post-rape counseling anywhere in the world, until I did a bit of research just now on Google. I found this Slate post and then a good Washington City paper post that they’ve FINALLY released some recommendations on how to prevent prison-rape, but it seems “states don’t want to implement the changes because they sound expensive”
My big problem with Feminism today is that many of you treat being female like having a disease. You are somehow disabled in society because you are female. Equality is a lofty goal, one that I agree we should strive towards having as soon as possible, but endless reporting of blatant lies as fact doesn’t help your case (claiming women only make 75 cents for every dollar men make is disingenuous and quite an outright falsehood apologies for not being able to find the government report link about there actually being little to no difference in pay when adjusted for seniority, etc).
Some Feminists tend to act more like those self-centered celebrities that just found out they have some incurable disease (let’s call it ‘womanhood’) and so they decide to start a charity purely out of self-interest in a search for the ‘cure!’ Feminism in that vein is nothing but sexism by another name. How about you show some Humanism, champion some causes for ALL humankind instead of displaying this greedy “I gotta get mine” attitude? You want to convince me that you really want more equality, then why don’t you Feminists start championing ‘Father’s Rights?’ Or at least put forth an equal effort to stopping rape in all its forms, no matter where it happens.
I have no brilliant suggestions for a solution to the issue of rape. But I will gladly play the part of the asshole here to point out your sad, and damaging, female-centric hypocrisy on the subject of rape. Commence personal attacks in 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…
